Heartland Kids
When we were kids, regardless of our circumstances, ice cream handouts were joyful hopes coming with a meal.
This painting is about arousing the kids’ sense of joy, when things dear to them come from caring people. The children’s experience, even if just once, hopefully will foster a caring society as they become adults. Caring is sharing our own needs with others deprived of the same needs.
The picture depicts the joy and excitement of kids rushing to receive the treats from the young man volunteering kindness. Even the toddler in his mother’s arm is not left out. Mothers are focusing on food packages from the young lady to see to the meals for the day.
